Masonic Service - 12/21/11 at 7pm
If you have not already heard, Worshipful Brother Richard H. Gearhart was called from labor to that Celestial Lodge on Sunday evening. We will having a Masonic Funeral Service at 7pm at Kutis Funeral Home (10151 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63123) in Afton on Wednesday (December 21).
For those of you who do not know, Worshipful Brother Gearhart was a 50+ year member of our Fraternity, a Past Master of Rose Hill Lodge, a member of Shaveh Lodge, a past Trustee and Temple Board member, a decorated WW2 veteran, and a POW. During one of my conversations with Worshipful Brother Gearhart, I found that he was involved in the invasion of Italy and was captured by the Nazis during those first few weeks when the Allied Forces were struggling to establish foothold there. He spent the rest of the war in a prisoner of war camp, until it was liberated by Allied Forces near the end of the war.
After recovering from abuse suffered by the Nazis, Richard was forced to walk with the assistance of a cane. I'm sure most of you can picture that cane now and recall the doorknob from a local Masonic Lodge which adorned the top. Worshipful Brother Gearhart was always after many of the younger members of our lodge to learn the ritual and ceremonies. During his year in the East, Worshipful Brother Gearhart personally presided over an impressive 13 Masonic Funeral Services. Despite the numerous surgeries and getting older, Worshipful Brother Gearhart always made it to at least half of the meetings every year, always sitting in the North.
We request that you set aside Wednesday evening to come show our dear departed brother's family that we, the fraternity that he spent so much time with, show our appreciation for his efforts and that we care. We would ask that all Freemasons assemble at the Funeral Home around 6:15pm so that we may get organized prior to the service.

4th Annual Trivia Night - Feb 25, 2012
Polar Star Rose Hill Lodge #79 is holding a
trivia night on Saturday, Feb 25, 2012, at the Scottish Rite (3633 Lindell Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63108) to benefit the St. Louis Fisher House. Fisher House provides "a home away from home" for families of Vets that are undergoing treatment at St. Louis Veterans Administration Medical Center. More Details Here

May 5, 11am - Polar Star-Rose Hill Lodge #79 took part in a historic event between two lodges located half a world apart. We joined with Salomon ā trois Serrures lodge of Göteborg, Sweden for a live videoconference. Look for a report in the next issue of Missouri Freemasonry!
